Bombardier Secures Major Challenger 3500 Order from Vista Global
Bombardier signs a $1.18B deal with Vista Global for 40 Challenger 3500 jets, with options for 120 more, starting deliveries in 2026.

This article is based on an official press release from Bombardier.
Bombardier Secures Massive Challenger 3500 Order from Vista Global
In a major development for the business aviation sector, Bombardier announced on February 11, 2026, that it has secured a significant fleet agreement with longtime customer Vista Global. The parent company of VistaJet and XO has committed to a firm order of 40 Challenger 3500 business jets, accompanied by purchase options for an additional 120 aircraft. This transaction underscores the continued demand for super-midsize jets and strengthens the decades-long relationship between the Canadian manufacturer and the global subscription operator.
According to the announcement, deliveries for the new fleet are scheduled to commence immediately in 2026 and will continue over the next decade. The deal is structured to standardize Vista’s super-midsize offerings, ensuring consistent capacity for its growing membership base. If all options are exercised, the agreement could encompass up to 160 aircraft, representing one of the largest commitments in the program’s history.
Deal Structure and Financial Impact
The financial scale of this agreement is substantial. Based on 2026 list prices, the firm order for 40 aircraft is valued at approximately $1.18 billion USD. Should Vista Global exercise all 120 options, the total value of the transaction could reach an estimated $4.72 billion USD. This structure provides Vista with the flexibility to scale its fleet in response to market conditions while securing production slots in a supply-constrained environment.
Éric Martel, CEO of Bombardier, highlighted the significance of the order in a statement regarding the partnership:
“These significant orders are a testament to how well this aircraft serves our customers… Vista has been a valued Bombardier customer since they began operating. We are proud that our relationship will further deepen.”
Why the Challenger 3500?
The selection of the Challenger 3500 aligns with Vista’s strategy to harmonize its fleet on a modern, efficient platform. The aircraft is an evolution of the Challenger 350, designed to bring “large-jet” amenities to the super-midsize category. Key features cited in the selection process include:
- Passenger Comfort: The aircraft features Bombardier’s patented “Nuage” zero-gravity seating, previously exclusive to the larger Global 7500, and maintains a cabin altitude of 4,850 feet at 41,000 feet to reduce passenger fatigue.
- Technology: It boasts the industry’s first voice-controlled cabin management system, allowing passengers to control lighting, temperature, and entertainment hands-free.
- Sustainability: The Challenger 3500 is the first super-midsize jet to carry an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), offering verified transparency regarding its environmental footprint, a critical factor for Vista’s carbon-neutrality goals.
Thomas Flohr, Founder and Chairman of Vista, emphasized the long-term vision behind the acquisition:
“This agreement is about leadership, preparedness and client experience. We are continuing to build the fleet our Members will rely on over the next decade, not reacting to short-term cycles, but investing with clarity, scale and discipline.”
Strategic Implications for the Market
This order arrives at a pivotal time for the business aviation industry. By locking in inventory for the next 10 years, Vista is effectively future-proofing its operations against supply chain volatility. The new units are expected to replace older Challenger 300/350 models and legacy Citation X aircraft within the Vista and XO fleets, lowering the average fleet age and simplifying maintenance protocols.
AirPro News Analysis
We view this transaction as a strong validation of the super-midsize segment, which remains the “sweet spot” for business aviation, balancing transcontinental range (3,400 nautical miles) with operating costs significantly lower than heavy jets. For Bombardier, this order provides critical long-term visibility.
With a backlog that stood at a record $16.1 billion in late 2025, adding a potential 160 units solidifies the Challenger production line well into the 2030s. Furthermore, this deal highlights the increasing dominance of large fleet operators. As entities like Vista, NetJets, and Flexjet consume vast amounts of production capacity, individual buyers may face increased difficulty in securing near-term delivery slots, potentially driving up residual values for existing aircraft.

NetJets and Signature Aviation Open New Las Vegas Terminal
NetJets and Signature Aviation open a 300,000 sq ft private terminal at Harry Reid International Airport amid 45% demand growth.

NetJets and Signature Aviation have officially opened a newly constructed, exclusive-use private aviation terminal at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) to accommodate a 45 percent surge in flight activity to the destination since 2022.
Announced in a joint press release on October 20, 2026, the Las Vegas campus represents the first new-build project developed collaboratively by the two companies. The facility is designed to provide dedicated infrastructure for NetJets owners and Executive Jet Management (EJM) clients in one of the most heavily trafficked leisure and entertainment markets in the United States.
Infrastructure and operational capacity
The new campus encompasses more than 300,000 square feet of dedicated infrastructure. At the center of the development is a 17,069-square-foot exclusive-use private jets terminal. The exterior features over 250,000 square feet of preferred ramp space, which is capable of accommodating approximately 25 aircraft simultaneously.
The facility includes two hangars, with one dedicated to NetJets operations and the other to EJM, a NetJets subsidiary specializing in aircraft management and private jet charter. To support fleet reliability in the western United States, the campus houses a Service Hub maintenance facility operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This hub is designed to perform proactive maintenance and reduce aircraft downtime.
A key operational feature of the new terminal is a direct Air Operations Area (AOA) access gate. This allows passengers to move directly between their ground vehicles and their aircraft without encountering commercial airport traffic.
“Together with NetJets, we are proud to open a luxury facility that reflects the future of private aviation, focused on seamless operations and an exceptional guest experience,” said Tony Lefebvre, Chief Executive Officer of Signature Aviation.
Surging demand in the Las Vegas market
The October 20, 2026 opening follows a groundbreaking in October 2024 and comes in response to sustained growth in business aviation traffic to Nevada. NetJets recorded approximately 8,000 flights to Las Vegas from 2022 through the end of 2025.
Demand has continued to accelerate into the current year. The company reported a 30 percent year-over-year increase in NetJets demand for Las Vegas in 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
Patrick Gallagher, President of NetJets Aviation, attributed the growth to the city’s position as a global destination for premier sporting events, world-class entertainment, and luxury hospitality.
“NetJets Owners increasingly seek effortless access to these experiences, and the new facility ensures they receive the personalized, anticipatory service that defines travel with NetJets,” Gallagher said.
Broader network and fleet expansion
The Las Vegas project is part of a wider strategy by NetJets to expand its network of exclusive-use private terminals across the United States. Originally incorporated in 1964 as Executive Jet Airways, the Berkshire Hathaway company operates the largest private jet fleet globally, offering fractional ownership, lease options, and jet cards. NetJets currently has new or expanded facilities in development at Dallas Love Field (DAL), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Rifle Garfield County Airport (RIL) in Colorado, and Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT) in West Palm Beach, Florida.
To support this ground infrastructure growth, NetJets is also expanding and upgrading its aircraft portfolio. The operator expects to take delivery of over 80 new aircraft directly from manufacturers throughout 2026. Concurrently, the company is installing Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi across 600 aircraft, a project scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The joint venture aligns with broader trends in the business aviation sector, which has seen sustained growth in leisure destinations following the pandemic. Fixed-base operator (FBO) networks have consolidated and expanded to meet this demand. Signature Aviation, which operates the largest network of private aviation terminals globally and serves as the largest distributor of sustainable aviation fuel in business aviation, has doubled its footprint to over 200 locations across 27 countries over the past 15 years. Executive Jet Management, which shares the new Las Vegas campus, brings nearly 50 years of aircraft management and charter expertise to the expanded operation.

Airbus H140 Completes US Hot and High Flight Test Campaign
Airbus H140 logs 130+ flight hours across three US states, gathering FAA and EASA certification data ahead of 2028 entry into service.

Helicopters has concluded a rigorous four-month “hot and high” flight testing campaign for its new H140 light twin-engine helicopter across three United States locations, securing critical performance data required for certification.
The testing, which ran from June 13 to October 8, 2026, validates the platform’s system maturity under extreme environmental conditions and keeps the aircraft on schedule for its targeted 2028 entry into service. In a press release issued on October 20, 2026, the manufacturer confirmed the successful completion of the trials aimed at acquiring certification data for the FAA and EASA.
Pushing the operational envelope in the American Southwest
The certification campaign subjected the H140 prototype to severe environmental factors to establish the aircraft’s performance margins. Operations began in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where the test team recorded peak temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius. The aircraft then moved to Leadville, Colorado, operating from an airport with a barometric altitude of 10,000 feet and conducting test flights that reached altitudes above 13,000 feet on Mount Pennsylvania. The final phase took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, testing the helicopter at density altitudes between 7,000 and 9,000 feet.
A team of 40 personnel, including flight test engineers, prototype mechanics, and quality assurance staff, supported the deployment. Over the course of the four-month campaign, the H140 logged more than 130 flight hours and completed over 800 safe test landings.
Christian Wehle, H140 Chief Engineer at Airbus Helicopters, described the effort as one of the most extensive and rigorous rotorcraft certification campaigns the manufacturer has ever executed.
“This campaign was actually three campaigns in one. We started on the 13th of June and we just finished on the 8th of October,” Wehle said. “The primary value of these tests lies in generating reliable and approved performance data. This data is ultimately incorporated into the flight manual performance part and performance apps.”
Validating the Safran Arrius 2E powerplant
The H140 is powered by two Safran Helicopter Engines Arrius 2E powerplants, each delivering 700 shaft horsepower (shp). The hot and high testing was specifically designed to evaluate how these engines, along with the aircraft’s five-blade bearingless main rotor and dynamic systems, handle the reduced air density and high temperatures that degrade rotorcraft performance.
The manufacturer reported that the aircraft, which has a Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) of 3,175 kg, handled the demanding conditions without issue.
“Despite these severe environmental factors and extended duty days, the H140 demonstrated very good reliability,” Wehle stated. “This sustained performance validates the platform’s system maturity and provides us with absolute confidence as we approach entry into service and commence deliveries to operators.”
Bridging the light twin capability gap
Airbus officially unveiled the H140 at the VAI Verticon show in Dallas, Texas, on March 11, 2025. The 3-tonne class helicopter is designed to bridge the capability gap between existing light twin and medium rotorcraft. Positioned as an evolution of the Airbus H135, the H140 features a larger cabin, an innovative T-tail design, and the proprietary Helionix avionics suite. It is configured to accommodate one or two pilots and up to six or seven passengers.
The aircraft was developed with a strong focus on Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), though it is also targeted at passenger transport, corporate aviation, and utility markets. As of April 2026, Airbus reported over 100 total commitments for the type, including 61 firm contracts. Launch customers include ADAC Luftrettung, Air Transport Europe, DRF Luftrettung, and Metro Aviation.
In March 2026, Airbus Corporate Helicopters expanded the product line by unveiling the ACH140, an executive-configured variant scheduled to enter service in 2030.
The path to 2028 certification
With the US hot and high campaign concluded, the H140 test program moves into its next phases. The prototype utilized in the US will undergo extreme cold conditions certification testing in Finland and Norway during the winter of 2026 and 2027. This follows initial cold weather and snow testing completed by the second H140 prototype in early 2026.
Airbus plans to introduce a third prototype to the certification flight test campaign in early 2027. By mid-2027, the manufacturer intends to commence a “tie down test,” which involves an extensive ground endurance evaluation for the aircraft’s transmissions, rotors, control systems, and drive shafts.
These milestones are aligned to support the targeted 2028 entry into service and initial customer deliveries.
AirPro News analysis
The successful completion of the hot and high campaign without major redesign requirements is a significant de-risking milestone for the H140 program. High-altitude and high-temperature operations are notoriously demanding on rotorcraft performance margins, particularly for the HEMS operators that make up the core of the H140 launch customer base. By validating the 3,175 kg MTOW under these extremes, Airbus is solidifying the aircraft’s value proposition against competing light twin models. The rapid accumulation of 130 flight hours in four months also suggests a high level of dispatch reliability for a prototype aircraft, indicating that the fundamental architecture is sound as the manufacturer pushes toward its 2028 certification target.

Dassault Announces EASy IV Flight Deck for Falcon 2000 Series
Dassault Aviation unveiled the EASy IV avionics upgrade for Falcon 2000 jets at NBAA-BACE 2026, available as retrofit by decade’s end.

Dassault Aviation announced the fourth-generation EASy IV flight deck upgrade for its Falcon 2000 series business jets on October 20, 2026, at the National Business Aviation Association Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The upgrade, detailed in a company press release, modernizes the avionics of Dassault’s best-selling business jet family to match the technological standards of its newer Falcon 6X and 8X models. The system will be available as a forward-fit option on new-production Falcon 2000LXS aircraft and as a retrofit for all existing Falcon 2000 models equipped with earlier EASy systems.
Avionics capabilities and situational awareness
The EASy IV system is powered by Honeywell Primus Epic avionics. According to Aviation International News, the fourth-generation architecture features faster processing speeds and higher-resolution displays compared to previous iterations. The flight deck incorporates 2D and 3D airport moving maps, advanced datalink communications, and a next-generation flight management system (FMS) equipped with Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach capability.
Additional situational awareness tools include Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) In and SiriusXM weather integration. Dassault noted that when paired with the FalconEye combined vision system, the EASy IV flight deck significantly improves pilot situational awareness during low-visibility operations.
Carlos Brana, Executive Vice President of Civil Aircraft at Dassault Aviation, told Aviation International News that the EASy IV program has been a request from customers for years.
“This upgrade is part of our philosophy of offering owners and operators the latest technology as a means of enhancing their personal productivity. The 2000-series has always been a standout for its ability to access almost any airport with comfort and efficiency. That market strength will be reinforced with the addition of the latest avionics,” Brana said in the company statement.
Fleet modernization and availability
The EASy IV upgrade is projected to become available by the end of the decade, aligning with the approximate 2029 to 2030 timeframe. It will be offered both on the production line for new Falcon 2000LXS airframes and as a retrofit package for the active fleet.
Dassault Aviation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Eric Trappier emphasized the strategic importance of the upgrade for the aircraft’s market longevity. Trappier stated that the company has consistently upgraded the 2000-series to improve performance, capability, comfort, and connectivity.
“This latest step keeps the flight deck at the leading edge and will keep the 2000-series a strong market competitor in the years ahead. It modernizes the existing fleet and enhances aircraft value,” Trappier said.
The evolution of the Falcon 2000 and EASy flight deck
The Falcon 2000 is a twin-engine business jet that first entered service in 1995. It has since become Dassault’s best-selling business aircraft, with over 700 units produced. The current production variant, the Falcon 2000LXS, features a 4,000 nautical mile range and is recognized for its short-field performance capabilities.
Dassault first introduced the Enhanced Avionics System (EASy) flight deck in 2003 on the Falcon 900EX, replacing the older Collins Pro Line 4 systems. The EASy IV generation is already standard equipment on the newly certified Falcon 6X and the ultra-long-range Falcon 8X. It is also currently available as a retrofit for the Falcon 7X and 8X fleets.
The French aerospace manufacturer, which employs 2,400 people in the United States for Falcon fitting and sales operations, is simultaneously advancing its next-generation aircraft programs. On September 24, 2026, a second Falcon 10X test aircraft joined the flight test program as Dassault progresses toward a revised 2029 certification target for its new flagship.
AirPro News analysis
By bringing the EASy IV flight deck to the Falcon 2000 series, Dassault is effectively extending the production life and secondary market viability of an airframe design that is now three decades old. Standardizing the avionics suite across the 2000LXS, 6X, and 8X reduces pilot training friction for operators managing mixed Falcon fleets. We view this retrofit and forward-fit strategy as a clear signal that Dassault intends to keep the 2000LXS competitive in the super-midsize to large-cabin segment, even as the company focuses heavy research and development resources on bringing the clean-sheet Falcon 10X to market by the end of the decade.
