Spot It from Above
A map with no names, only runways, taxiways and water: which airport is it?
How to play Spot It from Above
Every airport has its own fingerprint: the angle of its runways, parallel pairs, a crosswind strip, a terminal squeezed against the sea. Each round shows a real airport from above with every name and label removed: runways in white, taxiways in grey, water in blue. Pick the airport among four.
Easy draws from the 150 busiest airports in the world, Hard from every large airport. You can move and zoom the map a little to look around.
Tips
- Water is a strong clue: San Francisco, Hong Kong and Sydney all reach into a bay.
- Count the parallel runways: four or more usually means a major US or Asian hub.
Where the data comes from
Runways, taxiways and aprons from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL) through OpenFreeMap; airports from OurAirports and Wikidata.
