Flexjet Opens $34M Private Terminal at Farnborough Airport

Flexjet officially opened a $34 million, 2,098-square-meter dedicated private terminal at Farnborough Airport (EGLF) on September 10, 2026, marking the fractional operator’s first exclusive passenger facility in Europe.

The development represents the company’s most extensive infrastructure investment outside its North American headquarters. By establishing a proprietary terminal, Flexjet allows its aircraft owners to bypass traditional shared Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facilities. The announcement, detailed in a company press release, highlights a broader strategy to control the entire passenger experience from ground arrival to flight departure.

Infrastructure and terminal specifications

The new Farnborough facility integrates passenger hospitality with sustainable infrastructure. According to the company, the building incorporates 138 solar panels forecast to generate approximately 37,848 kilowatt-hours annually.

Flexjet Chairman Kenn Ricci emphasized the strategic importance of the facility in the company’s international footprint.

“This opening establishes one of the most significant branded luxury environments in private aviation and is a defining moment in Flexjet’s global expansion. It is our most ambitious infrastructure completion to date, beyond our North-America headquarters,” Ricci stated.

The passenger terminal complements a recently opened 3,530-square-meter Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangar facility at the same airport. The MRO site provides dedicated maintenance support for the operator’s European and transatlantic fleet, supported by a global maintenance workforce that now exceeds 1,500 personnel across 15 destinations.

Fleet growth and European operations

The Farnborough investment follows a period of sustained operational growth for the fractional ownership provider. Reporting by Aviation International News indicates that Flexjet expects to operate approximately 1,300 transatlantic crossings in 2026, representing a threefold increase compared to 2023 flight volumes.

To support this demand, the company operates a fleet of more than 350 private jets and helicopters, with projections to reach 360 total aircraft by the end of 2026. The fixed-wing fleet includes the Gulfstream G700, Gulfstream G650, Gulfstream G500, Gulfstream G450, Bombardier Challenger 350, Bombardier Challenger 3500, Embraer Praetor 600, Embraer Praetor 500, and Embraer Phenom 300.

Flexjet CEO Michael Silvestro told Aviation International News that the company is managing its expansion carefully to maintain service standards. Silvestro noted that the growth requires significant corresponding investments in pilots, cabin attendants, and maintenance infrastructure.

The Farnborough terminal opening is the latest in a series of European investments for Flexjet. On June 12, 2026, the company acquired London-based aircraft brokerage The Jet Business.
