Volatus and KHA Partner to Deploy K1000ULE Across Canada

Volatus Aerospace Inc. and Kraus Hamdani Aerospace, Inc. (KHA) have established a strategic partnership to deploy the K1000ULE ultra-long-endurance autonomous aircraft across Canada for wildfire detection, emergency management, and defense applications.

Announced in an August 5, 2026, press release, the agreement designates Volatus as the Canadian Strategic Partner for KHA. The framework covers systems integration, operational deployment, lifecycle support, and the progressive establishment of domestic manufacturing at the Volatus aerospace facility in Mirabel, Québec.

Persistent airborne intelligence for wildfire response

The K1000ULE is designed for continuous operations over remote environments. According to the companies, the UAV has accumulated 6,000 operational flight hours supporting United States military and allied missions. It has demonstrated the ability to exceed 75 hours in a single non-stop flight while carrying mission payloads.

The primary focus of the Canadian deployment is the detection and management of rapidly evolving wildfire incidents. Volatus Chief Executive Officer Glen Lynch emphasized the critical role of early data acquisition in emergency management.

“Wildfires are ultimately an information challenge before they become a suppression challenge. The earlier incident commanders understand what’s happening, how conditions are changing and where responders are positioned, the more options they have to protect communities and keep firefighters safe. Persistent airborne intelligence and resilient communications fundamentally improve decision-making, enabling governments to respond earlier, coordinate more effectively and strengthen the exceptional wildfire response capability Canada already possesses.”

KHA Chief Executive Officer Fatema Hamdani stated the aircraft was purpose-built for continuous operations over large and remote environments. She noted that Volatus brings the operational expertise and industrial capability required to execute the deployment vision.

Expanding Canadian autonomous capabilities

The Partnerships also introduces the Aerial Tier Network Extension ++ (ATNE++) resilient airborne communications architecture to the Canadian market. This system is intended to support critical infrastructure monitoring, Arctic operations, and public safety initiatives where traditional communication networks are unavailable or compromised.

Establishing domestic production is a core component of the agreement. The companies have designated the Volatus aerospace facility in Mirabel as the site for progressive Manufacturing of the K1000ULE systems, aiming to build a sovereign Canadian persistent intelligence capability.

Recent strategic moves by Volatus

The KHA agreement follows a series of rapid capacity-building announcements from Volatus. On August 4, 2026, the company partnered with Singular Aircraft S.L. to introduce the FlyOx 1 multi-mission heavy-lift autonomous platform for Canadian wildfire response. In July 2026, Volatus signed a memorandum of understanding with Concordia University to advance energy technologies for uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) and showcased multi-domain capabilities at the Maritime and Arctic Security and Safety (MASS) conference.
