What we watch

• The single-aisle ramp-up. The A320neo family is the best-selling airliner programme in history, and the pace at which Airbus can build it, constrained by engine supply and the wider supply chain, sets the tone for the whole industry. The A321XLR, the long-range variant, opens new transatlantic and thin long-haul routes for narrowbodies.
• Widebodies. The A350-900 and -1000 carry Airbus’s long-haul ambitions, with the A350F freighter in development; the A330neo serves the mid-size market. Orders, delivery slots and the A350 production rate are the numbers to follow.
• The A220. Built in Mirabel, Québec, and Mobile, the former Bombardier C Series is Airbus’s entry in the 100-150-seat market and its production rate has been a recurring story.
• Defence, space and helicopters. The A400M transporter, the Eurofighter programme, the Future Combat Air System, military satellites and the H-series helicopters, from the H125 to the H175 and H160.
• Sustainability and technology. Hydrogen research under the ZEROe programme, sustainable aviation fuel uptake across the fleet, and the next-generation single-aisle Airbus has said it intends to launch in the 2030s.
